This Wearable Sculpture piece belongs to my Human Emotion Machine series, which includes this sculpture and 3 videos which you can view on my Video Art page.

This piece includes the words, "wearable atoms" because the idea behind it is that I am creating my "identity" within a Human Machine powered by Emotion, piece by piece, by making art, because my art is more me than anything else I know. I believe that My Art communicates my heart, soul, and life-energy more than my natural, physical body ever could. The Wearable Atoms represent me becoming my highest and most genuine self, by building my soul piece by piece, through the atoms (beads) of my art.

It is not always easy to transform one’s self, or to follow wherever their Art takes them. In my case, I have had to confront many of my fears and insecurities in order to fully transform. This piece highlights many physical traits about myself that I have in the past been insecure about, instead of trying to hide them. For example, the asymmetry/lopsidedness of my face, the big tear representing my erratic emotions, the bags under my eyes, and the cold stare in my eyes.

By using children’s craft supplies, I am calling upon my childhood self (my most genuine self) to help my current adult self create her most genuine art. The suit coat I am wearing re-enforces the representation of myself being “adult”. The beads and mature-looking coat are a stark contrast to each other, to illustrate and exaggerate these two parts of myself.
